Chocolate Chip Cookies (Dan’s)

So, remember how i said about the classic Toll House recipe, “If it’s not broke don’t fix it?”

Well, I lied. Because of some advice we got from Dan at ATC, we revamped the classic recipe and it is indeed superior.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla
  • 1 large egg + 1 yolk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (was  only 1 and 1/2 before Sept. 2022)

How to make it

  1. Brown the butter in a sauce pan and add it to the sugar in a large bowl. Stir to combine and let sit for 10 minutes to cool down.
  2. Preheat oven to 375° F.
  3. Add the eggs, and vanilla to the butter sugar mixture and whisk to combine. Let it sit for 5 minutes, whisk it again, let it sit again, whisk it again. This process should turn it to a lighter color.
  4. Gradually fold in combined flour, baking soda and salt.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto parchment lined baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Rotate halfway through if your oven is like mine.
  8. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; move to wire racks to cool completely.
