So, remember how i said about the classic Toll House recipe, “If it’s not broke don’t fix it?”
Well, I lied. Because of some advice we got from Dan at ATC, we revamped the classic recipe and it is indeed superior.
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp vanilla
- 1 large egg + 1 yolk
- 1 cup chocolate chips (was only 1 and 1/2 before Sept. 2022)
How to make it
- Brown the butter in a sauce pan and add it to the sugar in a large bowl. Stir to combine and let sit for 10 minutes to cool down.
- Preheat oven to 375° F.
- Add the eggs, and vanilla to the butter sugar mixture and whisk to combine. Let it sit for 5 minutes, whisk it again, let it sit again, whisk it again. This process should turn it to a lighter color.
- Gradually fold in combined flour, baking soda and salt.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Drop by rounded tablespoon onto parchment lined baking sheets.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Rotate halfway through if your oven is like mine.
- Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; move to wire racks to cool completely.
